The bastide of Monflanquin

Its in the beginning of the 13th century that the bastide of Monflanquin was founded, one of the most beautifull villages of France. A bastide is typical in its architecture, around a central square the streets are lined up symmetrical. The terrains and the houses had a rectangular shape and often the same surface. The rôle of a bastide town was of course defensif, but at the same time socially, economic and commercial. The church is slightly out of the center, which could mean its difference with the authorities at the same time. The bastide of Monflanquin has been restored in 2004 and 2005, preserving its origines and is ready to face the coming centuries.
